Exterior Painting for North Texas Homes

Exterior painting covers the preparation, priming and coating of a home's exterior surfaces: siding, trim, fascia, soffit and doors. In North Texas the limiting factor on paint life is UV exposure and thermal movement, so surface preparation and coating quality matter far more than they do in milder climates.

Prep is the entire job

Texas sun destroys a badly prepared paint job in two or three years regardless of what is in the can. Chalked surfaces have to be washed and sealed, failed caulk has to be cut out and replaced rather than painted over, and bare wood needs a real primer. Skipping any of that is how a five-year paint job becomes a two-year one.

Rotten fascia and soffit are worth addressing while the crew is already up there. Those are the surfaces that fail first and they are directly connected to your roof edge.

It pairs naturally with roof and gutter work

Several of our customers have us paint while we are already on site for a roof or gutter replacement. Fascia, soffit and trim are exactly the surfaces disturbed by roofing work, and doing both at once means one mobilization instead of two.

Exterior Painting questions

How often does a house need repainting in North Texas?

Typically every five to seven years on the sun-exposed elevations, and longer on the north side. South and west faces take the heaviest UV load and will always fail first, which is why a well-planned repaint sometimes addresses only those elevations.

What is the best time of year to paint in Texas?

Spring and fall. Mid-summer surface temperatures on a west-facing wall can exceed the coating's application range, which causes it to flash-dry before it bonds properly. We schedule around the extremes instead of painting through them.

Do you repair rotten wood before painting?

Yes, and it should never be skipped. Painting over soft or rotten fascia and trim hides the problem for one season and guarantees a callback. We identify it at the estimate stage so it is in the price rather than a surprise later.
